Auxiliary Battery System with Solar Charge Input for a Series 200 LandCruiser

Getting camping-ready with an auxiliary battery system, portable solar panel for battery charging and a GME XRS two-way radio

Getting ready for the next camping or off-road trip, our technicians fitted this late model 200 series LandCruiser with an auxiliary dual battery system and a GME XRS two way radio.

A Redarc BCDC (DC to DC) charger was also installed to separate the axillary electrical system from the start battery.

The Redarc charger also features a solar charge input allowing sufficient charge from a portable solar panel when connected via an Anderson plug while the vehicle is parked in a camp site.

The charging status of the auxiliary battery is monitored via a Matson Bluetooth smart phone app.

How a dual battery system can bring value to your off-road or camping trip:

  • power a 12V portable fridge or freezer
  • charge your devices and tools (phones, tablets, laptops, cameras or cordless drills)
  • travel to remote locations knowing you have back-up power
  • be self-sufficient with 12V power while camping

Has your work fridge ever run flat during a long day on site? You're not alone. This is a common problem for tradies and mobile workers. And we've got a solution that is ideal under the Australian climate. By installing solar panels on the rear toolbox of your work vehicle, and integrating them directly into the BCDC solar input circuit, we create a seamless power management system. This means your ute battery gets exactly the charge it needs, and your portable fridge stays running reliably all day.
