Anderson plugs are the most used and popular solution to power charging a trailer, caravan or camper while driving.
Their main purpose is to transfer the power supply to the battery charge system of your towed vehicle (trailer, caravan or camper). Although 12 pin plugs can be fitted for this purpose, we do not recommend it. The power fed to the plug for charging the battery usually exceeds the capability of the 12 pin plug, which can cause the pin to melt, as it is not designed to hold a high charge feed. Anderson plugs are specifically designed to withstand the needed power charge while driving.
Most common Anderson plugs are grey and red and they are the preferred solution for transferring high current power.
Anderson plugs most common sizes: 50 amp, 175 amp, 350 amp.

12 pin trailer plugs enable all connections for the 7 pin plug to tow a caravan, plus the ability to wire 4x4 accessories.
The 12 pin rectangle trailer plug consists of a row of 7 pins and a row of 5 larger pins.
The row of 7 pins transfers electrical power to run the towing vehicle’s lighting system and electrical braking power.
The larger pins are used for higher current most common to run power to a 12 volt fridge or to charge a battery system on a towing vehicle (caravan or camper trailer.)
